What it does
Trova is a desktop clip browser for editors who work out of large footage libraries. It indexes a folder, or a drive, locally, and lets you search by what's in the clip rather than by filename. The index lives on your machine. Nothing uploads, nothing phones home. Built for the part of the edit where the cut is waiting on you finding the right take.
How it works
Pick a folder of footage. Trova reads the clips and builds an index on your machine. From then on you search the library in your own words instead of scrolling through filenames. The index sits next to the footage and updates as the folder grows.
Trova doesn't move, copy, or rename your files, it reads them and writes its own index. The clips never leave the drive they were already on.
Built around the search
Natural language goes through a vision-language embedding model. Type "kid laughing on a swing" and you get kids laughing on swings, not filenames matching those words.

Configurable
A different query, the same drive.
Search "golden hour, wide desert, slow push-in" and one set of clips surfaces. Search "handheld interview, soft window light, two people" and an entirely different set, in milliseconds. No re-indexing, no re-tagging, no second library to maintain. The drive doesn't move. Only the question changes.
Match scores you can read.
Trova surfaces every match with its embedding similarity score against your query. 0.94 is a strong match. 0.62 is a maybe. You decide what crosses the threshold for the cut. No black-box ranking, no "trust me," just a number you can read alongside every result.
A live index, not a snapshot.
Drop new footage into the folder Trova is watching. The index grows in the background as the clips land. The pulse indicator at the bottom of the app tells you it's still listening. Move the folder, and the cache moves with it. No daily rebuild ritual, no stale catalog.
